Tidewater Wireless

W4VB

Tidewater Wireless W4VB serves the Amateur Radio Community of Southeastern Virginia, including the cities of Norfolk, Hampton, Portsmouth, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Newport News, and Virginia Beach.

Tidewater Wireless was formed in 1995 by the group of amateur radio operators who maintained the Norfolk 145.33 repeater.  The original club call sign was KE4YRQ, and was subsequently changed to W4VB in 1996 under the vanity call sign program.

The charter members of Tidewater Wireless met originally as members of the Atlantic Fleet Headquarters Area Amateur Radio Station WA4ZUA, and also maintained the 145.17 repeater.

The group currently maintains or assists with the following repeaters in Tidewater:

  145.17    145.33    147.375    224.400    442.95    444.475

The trustee is Rich, W4NMH.

The primary focus of Tidewater Wireless is public service to the community through the maintenance and operation of repeater systems.  Other activities are conducted based on the initiatives and desires of individual members.

An e-mail listserver is available for members.
